DV Guild Information

Recommended Posts

Note: DV is currently undergoing a restructure. Please read the announcement here

This is the main infopage for all things DV!

Guild Features

  • No representation required: All representation in the guild is completely optional & voluntary
  • OpenCommunity guild: DV is an OpenCommunity guild - we operate on the OC teamspeak, and attend and organise OC events
  • Teamspeak Guild: Everything we do, we do on the OC teamspeak, allowing for efficient communication and keeping us tight with the community
  • Positive atmosphere: DV is focused on creating a positive atmosphere, not just in the guild but also elsewhere in the Guild Wars 2 community, and our members are focused on helping guildies as well as other players, challenging the idea that online spaces must be filled with cynicism and negativity
  • Newsletter: In addition to the Message of the Day as a source of news about OpenCommunity and DV, we also send out a newsletter via the in-game mail, informing members of recent changes / updates in the guild or the community
  • Event notifications: All guild members receive in-game notifications about events happening in DV or the community via guild messages, newsletters, and/or the MOTD. These can safely be ignored if the member doesn't wish to attend the event - our desire is to inform members of upcoming events, not to force them to join

Member Responsibilities

  • DV members must follow the OpenCommunity Community Guidelines, both during guild activities and outside of them
  • It's assumed that all members that have received newsletters have read the information provided in them
  • Members should help and guide each other in our guild and outside of it, and do their best to follow the guild etiquette

Guild Etiquette

We encouarge members to:

  • maintain a positive attitude within and outside of the guild (at events, in map chat, etc.)
  • help newcomers to the guild and the game in general
  • get involved with the community - participate in OpenCommunity events, socialise with other community members on TS, Discord, the forums, or any other community platforms
  • help maintain a friendly, social atmosphere in the DV guild chat

We discourage:

  • toxic & negative attitudes in and outside of DV guild chat
  • swearing in guild chat, as DV is an all-ages guild, as well as to maintain a general level of conversation
  • "trolling" or otherwise unhelpful attitudes towards other players

Some alternatives we encourage:

  • Instead of asking guild members for things such as LI or proof of experience, instead trust them on their word & get to know them. We expect guild members to be honest with each other, but, in the rare case that they lied, you will know quickly enough to not invite them again.
  • When asked for advice on a build, unless the person is asking for meta builds specifically, instead of just linking the recent meta guides and telling members to copy that build, try something like "<this> is the current meta, so you can't go wrong with that, but there are also other things you can do" - when it comes to raids, you can always assure the person that OC raids do not require meta builds, and that the Raid Team gladly helps anyone improve without enforcing meta builds.

Note: The phrase "freedom of speech" means you can criticise or parody your government, superiors or society without being legally prosecuted, and has nothing to do with etiquette and you being able to say whatever you want, wherever you want to whomever you want without social consequences.

Guild Ranks

  • Leader
    • Leaders manage the guild, and generally try not to interfere with things as long as everything is running the way it should. When required, Leaders also take on the responsibilities of Officers or Coordinators.
  • Officer
    • Officers are the recommended go-to people for resolving any issues, arguments, disputes or complaints. They also run the day-to-day of the guild and can assist with almost all issues. Note: DV currently has no officers, and these two responsibilities are taken on by the Coordinators (the latter), and the Leaders (the former).
  • Coordinator
    • Coordinators handle guild missions, PvP Teams, member invites, and can also provide members with information about the guild.
  • Honored Member
    • This rank is used for members with special past contributions and notable connections to the guild. These include guild founders, former guild officers or leaders, as well as guild leaders / officials from other guilds that wish to maintain a connection with DV.
    • The Honored Member rank does not bestow any additional rights or abilities, aside from scribing. It is mainly a cosmetic rank.
  • Scribe
    • This rank is temporarily given out to users who wish to level up their scribing profession, as it allows them access to the guild inventory, which is a feature largely required for scribing.
  • Member
    • The general member rank. Most members have this rank.

Please note that there might be upcoming changes to guild ranks and other sections of the DV information  in the near future. Please note that pending further steps in reshaping our guild, there may be further changes.

Updated the Activity section with a new addition - Special Team at Dry Top! Also made the steps clearer for the Specialist roles at Triple Trouble rankup procedure.

Special Team at Dry Top

  • Participating in the Special / Roaming Team at a Dry Top event earns an activity tick. Since a Coordinator may not be present at the event, there are two steps to this:
    • During the preparation phase, whisper your commander that you'll be needing an activity uprank. Commanders cannot rank you up, but they will be able to confirm to a Coordinator that you were there and did actually participate in the special team.
    • After the event, message a DV coordinator and inform them you participated in the special team, and when. They'll be able to check with the commander, and you'll receive the activity tick.
  • Note: coming late to the event (past its scheduled time on our calendar), refusing to communicate, or afking during the event can lead to your activity not being recognised.

The following sections have been removed

    Quote

    Guild Features

      • Monthly raffle: In order to reward active members, we have a built-in monthly activity system (for more information, see the "Activity System" section below), and a monthly prize raffle!

      Member Responsibilities

      • Members should join guild activities regularly (more information in the "Activity System" section)
      • If a member knows they wont be able to be active for a time period of a month or more, they should contact a guild Leader or Officer so they can be marked as "Away" so they do not receive notifications about inactivity, or get removed from the guild for being inactive

        Activity System

DV has a monthly activity system to reward active players and make sure that we cycle out inactive players to make room for new members.

Participating in guild activities earns members a "level up" in their activity rank. At the end of the month, these ranks are recorded, members are assigned prize raffle tickets based on their rank, a prize winner is announced, and everyone's ranks are reset back to "Member". Non-winning raffle tickets are transferred into the next month's raffle, so active players have a bigger chance to win each month.

          Guild activities:

          • Guild missions
            • We organize guild missions several times a week at various times to allow members to join based on what their work & life schedules allow. Guild missions are currently the way most members receive activity ticks. At a random point during guild missions, the coordinator will usually ask for a prompt from those attending to validate participation.
          • Assisting with the DV in-game newsletter
            • Assisting with the newsletter takes about 15 minutes, and is, unlike guild missions, not tied to a specific hour in the day, which makes it an easy way of bumping up one's activity to Active Member at the start of the month. If you would like to assist with the newsletter, contact a guild Leader or Officer.
            • Note: Due to account limitations, free-to-play accounts cannot assist with sending newsletters.
          • OpenCommunity raids
            • Attending OC Raids is another way for members to show that they're active in the guild and in the community. After joining a raid, simply contact a Coordinator, Officer or Leader and you'll receive the activity tick.
          • Joining one of the OC Teams
            • Commanding as part of an OC Team, such as the TT Team, Event Team, or Raid Team, is a way to gain activity ticks! After commanding, simply contact a Coordinator, Officer or Leader and you'll receive the activity tick.
          • PvP Group
            • Doing PvP with a DV PvP group earns an activity tick. After participating in a PvP match that counts as a team match, simply contact a Coordinator, Officer or Leader and you'll receive the activity tick.
          • Specialist roles at Triple Trouble
            • Egg blocking or husk handling at an OpenCommunity Triple Trouble run earns an activity tick. Since a Coordinator may not be present at the event, there are two steps to this:
              • During the gathering phase, whisper your commander that you'll be needing an activity uprank. Commanders cannot rank you up, but they will be able to confirm to a Coordinator that you were there and did actually perform that role.
              • After the event, message a DV Coordinator and inform them what role you performed and with which commander. They'll be able to check with the commander, and you'll receive the activity tick.
            • Note: coming late to the event (past its scheduled time on our calendar), refusing to communicate, or afking during the event can lead to your activity not being recognised.
          • Special Team at Dry Top

          Activity ranks:

          • Member [participated in 0 activities]
          • Active Member [participated in 1 activity]
          • Shiny Member [participated in 2 or more activities]

The system is in place not to punish or shame inactive players, but simply because without this, DV would be consistently at 500 members, which is the population cap for guilds, so we could not accept any new active players, while the guild could be filled with many inactive ones. Players who have been removed for inactivity can rejoin the guild when they become active again without any detriment to their rank or status in the guild.

          Away status:

If a member finds themselves unable to join activities for a period of 1 month or more, they can contact a guild leader or officer to temporarily obtain the Away rank for the time they are away, generally for a maximum of 3 months, upon which time it needs to be renewed. While a member has the Away status, their activity will not decay back to Member and will remain on Away for the duration.

This allows members who are going on a break or are experiencing a busy time in their life, but are still planning to return to the game, to not be counted as inactive. This protects them from being kicked for inactivity, and from losing the monthly raffle tickets.

          Monthly Raffle

The monthly activity raffle usually contains a prize worth around 50-100 in-game gold, commonly a black lion weapon skin. Tickets are awarded in the following manner by rank:

          • Shiny Member
            • 3 tickets awarded at the end of the month
          • Active Member
            • 1 ticket awarded at the end of the month
          • Member
            • All existing tickets are wiped at the end of the month
          • Honored Member / Scribe
            • Earns no tickets at the end of the month
            • May earn one ticket for assisting with mails
          • Away
            • Cannot earn any tickets, but previously owned tickets are still kept
          • Coordinator / Officer
            • Earns 1 ticket per activity coordinated, up to a maximum of 3 each month
            • May earn an additional ticket for assisting with mails
          • Leader
            • Earns no tickets ;_;

          Guild Ranks

          • Shiny Member
            • The general member rank, activity level 2. This is noted down & reset to Member every month.
          • Active Member
            • The general member rank, activity level 1. This is noted down & reset to Member every month.
          • Away
            • A temporary rank given out to people who are taking a break from the game or unable to join activities for an amount of time. Members with this rank are exempt from the activity system, and will not be removed from the guild due to inactivity as long as they have this rank. In order to obtain this rank, please talk to a guild Leader or Officer.
