  1. Bobbleville aka Hmm is now officially open for traders! You can get to the village by heading east from spawn, or from the nether, follow the small tunnel on ground level and exit through the hut, then go west from there on the river bank.

As of now the best books include Riptide III, Feather Falling IV, Respiration III, Fortune III, Protection II. The book merchants can be found on town square.

If you are looking to sell materials, you can find more merchants inside the cave stalls! 2 of the best traders in the town are available from the following professions:

    • fletcher to sell string
    • buthcer to sell porkchop and chicken
    • cleric to sell rotten flesh
    • cartographer and librarian to sell paper
    • shepherd to sell wool
    • farmer to sell wheat, carrot, potato
    • leatherworker to sell leather

I haven't got any smiths at the stalls because I didn't think anyone would want to sell coal, but if you do, ask me and I can make more stalls.

There are also a bunch of villagers just roaming around. Please do consider trading with them too, as this lets them breed so we could get better traders (the ones in the stalls can't breed).

If any of the traders (especially the ones in the stalls) get locked on a trade, please try and unlock them by trading some other stuff. If you need to, you can gather resources form the farms around the village and my base (the treehouse), and I'll also place a little chest with some emeralds for trade reseting purposes only, please use it accordingly. If you can't reset the trades don't worry though, but if you can, let me know about it (it's not so important for the roaming villagers).

Also, if you see any child villagers please find some fence in the nearby chests and fence them in (except green ones), so I can keep track of new traders. Thank you!

  2. Updated the thingy with the new and final collection. Sorry for the delay, I couldn't get to it before because... of the person I am. I tried to weed out stuff related to how old fractals worked, like the dailies and such, but some might still be in there, so feel free to message me and I'll edit the post.

  3. Updated the spreadsheet. Now the instabuy recipes show the realistic prices according to the current state of the Trading Post. This means for example that if you instabuy 75 of a material but only 50 of those are selling for 10s, and the remaining 25 sell for 12s, it will show 50*10s + 25*12s, instead of 75*10s as it were before.

In the instabuy recipes only the orb/crest/whatevers are calculated with instabuy prices, the ecto prices are still calculated with the buy listing price as the buy orders come in pretty fast.

I also tried to tidy stuff up a bit. I've hidden some columns and rows and whether a recipe is worth crafting or not now can be seen by the colour-coded name of the ingredient.

  4. @Faye Grim

Wow, thank you very much :D I did a quick update, now it shows recipe prices and the cheapest orb/crest/etc to buy with insta prices. However as stated in the spreadsheet this is a bit misleading ATM, as it doesn't take into consideration that you might not be able to buy all the items at the currently lowest instabuy price and might have to go above that if you need more than the current supply at that price (you might be able to instabuy a crest at 15s, but the rest at 17s as supply runs out). I'll update this to work properly maybe on the weekend or next week or maybe in the afterlife. The spreadsheet was a bit crowded as it were and now with this new addition its even more crowded so I'll rework that also. Also I was thinking about including instabuy prices on ectos too, but that wouldve made it even worse :D (and ectos sell very fast with buyorder anyway). To avoid more crowding the full recipe price is only shown for the normalised amalgem return (with 10% to get 25 gems from a recipe).

In the rework I'll probably include an instabuy/buyorder checkbox next to orbs/crests and ecto and update the list accordingly. Also, even though there are now less errors with the sheet using GW2API instead of GW2Spidy's, I still get at least 1 mail a day saying that something went wrong. This is due to the limited capabilities of google spreadsheets and I will probably migrate the project to a proper site which will take care of this and also should be faster to load/update and such.

Any further suggestions regarding this project or any similar are always welcome ^.^

  5. Heyho o/

So, if you are crafting legendaries, you will probably need 250 of these beauties. Craft or buy? Crystalline recipe or ecto recipe? GW2API and spreadsheets to the rescue!

The spreadsheet checks the current prices on the mats for the recipes and calculates the total cost of crafting the gemstones. Crystalline recipes are never the answer. For the ecto recipes I made two calculations:

    • worst case scenario - you get 10 gemstones from every forging
    • best case - you get 25 gemstones for every 10 forging (see wiki)

The spreadsheet then tells you whether it's worth crafting with each material or would you just be better off buying the gemstone from TP and also, the current cheapest recipe. Prices are highest current buy offer.

    Click for shiny spreadsheet!

NOTE: Spreadsheet sometimes gets messed up. Can't figure out why, but sometimes it can't load the ecto information. If this happens (you see 'loading...' in row 32 under Crystalline Dust prices) try copying the document for your drive so you can edit it, and CTRL-X - CTRL-V the cells to anywhere else in the spreadsheet. If anyone has any idea why this might be happening please do step up :D Otherwise, loading the prices should take 10-60 seconds.

NOTE2: You can check the time of the last price update in row 42. If the cell does not update on refresh make sure you are logged in to your Google Drive account. If it still does not work after that, please contact me.

  6. Hellooooo o/

I joined the community 3-4 months ago after I finally managed to find an organized TT :] A month after that I joined DV in hopes of spicing up my gaming which at the time pretty much consisted of TT-WvW-TT-WvW, and it worked out very well :]

You will likely see me under my main character's name Epertyufi (or my husketeer Epertyuf, victim of typos) which you are more than welcome to try and pronounce on TS ^.^ Nowadays I'm usually running around HoT maps in search of MPs for my Nevermore collection, but I'm usually up for fractals (T4 dailies definitely, but I would also gladly help out anyone new to fractals) and dungeons ^^

I don't know either. Someone else above mentioned it. I thought I had missed something and didn't feel like double checking.

EDIT: I looked at the thread again, and I see that no one mentioned it. Where did I even see it? Might have been a misread on my part. Probably my brain registered the better rewards as that. Disregard it. Brain farts are a regular occurrence.

I've read it too, as well as the mention of the old and new borderlands rotating every 3 months and some other stuff. I've seen it on another community website yesterday, where it was pointed out in the comments that these were plans discussed in March (on reddit probably?). I have not yet found any official comment on whether the fractal drop rate changes were included in the April patch.

  8. I also really like the changes they did to fractals. Mossman after Mossman had its charms as a daily meditative exercise but it sure can get boring. Also as Arvinthir mentioned I expect it to be easier to finish levels other than the swamplands and the very few that were in the daily rotation before. One thing I noticed though is that I haven't really got any Tomes of Knowledge from the new fractal dailies (tier 1-3) :(

As for dungeons, I was very excited about them when I started playing. They were my favorite thing in GW1 and my favorite thing to do in GW2 to level up my characters. Finding parties for AC and CM were kind of easy but soon I had to realise that apart from people who were leveling their alts and some farmers, dungeons really weren't as popular as it first seemed. I'm still missing most paths because after some time I just gave up looking for groups. So far I haven't checked out the new rewards yet, but yeah I'm very happy that they are encouraging people to return to the dungeons :)

I also couldn't yet check out the WvW changes but I am very excited for the new reward system. I was hoping that they would bring back the old borderlands but with all these other cool new things happening I'm currently unable to rage out on that :D Ooh and account bound proofs of heroics ftw :3

I still have some reading to do on the update notes and also have to check out HoT changes ( \o/ xp boost \o/ more time in DS \o/ bigger rewards \o/ admdkgkdfgnd ) and so many other things. Oooh yeah and DPS meter and asc gear for magnetite shards (not that I have a considerable amount, but still) and and and... just so many cool things. I just wish I could return my lvl80 booster in exchange for some free time because lacking those just when such an update hits is.... bleh :|

Oh and don't be fooled by my excitement ANet... I still haven't forgotten nor forgiven you guys not implementing build templates and all the cool GW1 emotes >_<

That's very nice guide, thank you! There's one thing missing though - In second collection, when listing materials needed for Beta Fractal Capacitor you wrote

The one bought in the first collection is exotic, you have to ascend it before throwing it into mystic toilet to get Beta Capacitor. So  500 more relics and a stack of ectos to farm.

Thank you! I fixed the original post :)

  10. Okay, so because I found no real guides to completing this legendary collection and the fact that it has many things to which if you don't pay attention it can cost you more than it should I decided to help you save some ascendeds and whatnot.

Okay so before I get into more details let's get this straight:

    • You need Heart of Thorns to complete the collections. You may start the collection but buying certain items require fractal masteries which you can only progress if you have HoT.
    • You will need a total of 3 Balls of Dark Energy to finish all 4 tiers of this collection. Yes you do need 5 just to buy collection items and a bunch more to craft the backpacks but salvaging the previous tiers of the backpacks will give you enough to finish, so don’t start salvaging your ascendeds.
    • You will need a total of 4150 relics and 140 pristine relics to finish this collection.
    • You will need a total of 112 Fractal Research Pages which only drop from daily fractal chests. If you still need to get these pages, then doing the dailies to do so will also give you relics of course, so don’t start farming yet!
    • Leave the items that require relics for the end and don’t start farming relics if you don’t need them. Getting the other items will also get you some relics so you should really only be worried about that once you have every other item from the collection.

What follows is basically copy-pasta from the official wiki rearranged a bit and with some additional info and maps for your convenience. To start the collection you will have to speak to Kelvei, the Legendary Observer in the Mistlock Observatory. So let's begin:

    Ad Infinitum I: Finite Result

Challanges / collections related to a specific fractal level:

    kcd0-Q07FLAfikJHdIIhTgABcey-cmHswu_orDtn

These three items can be obtained from one run at the level 2 fractal.

Completing these fractal levels will yield you 24 fractal relics if you choose level 6 for the last and get all the Swamplands items in one run.

To get a Ball of Dark Energy you will have to salvage an ascended armor or weapon. Rings have absolutely no chance of dropping a Ball upon salvage, and other trinkets are reported to have very low chance. Armors and weapons are guaranteed to yield you a Ball.

Your reward for completing the collection: Chest of Loyalty.png Proof: Finite Result containing 3 Stabilizing Matrices, the Recipe and the Solution to Finite Result. Now you can go and craft Finite Result, which requires:

Congratulations on your Finite Result \o/ NOW GO AND SALVAGE IT! Well actually you can take it for a walk while you are finishing Ad Inf II but you will have to salvage it anyway. Good news though: in the next collection you will have to craft another ascended backpiece so you won’t be left without one :3 Anyways salvaging the Finite Result gives you:

Ooh shiny Balls! ...of Dark Energy! Jolly good show! These Ball of Dark Energy.png will sure come in handy during our next collection:

    Ad Infinitum II: Upper Bound

Round 2! All things as mentioned above in the first collection.

Challanges / collections related to a specific fractal level:

    t4DIgg843PrNhdaK6QQXH7X35P3_gj1hOV72I4tu

Completing these levels will yield you 48 relics if you take lvl 5 and 9.

Your reward for completing the collection: Chest of Loyalty.png Proof: Upper Bound containing 5 Stabilizing Matrices, Recipe and Solution to Upper Bound. Now you can go and craft Upper Bound, which requires:

Phew you got your Upper Bound. Yeah, you gonna salvage that too, tough love. Dry your eyes mate look at the lűűt from the salvage:

Would you look at that! 9 Balls! Jolly good show indeed.

    Ad Infinitum III: Unbound

Challanges / collections related to a specific fractal level:

Completing these levels will yield you 41 relics if you take levels 4, 5, 8.

Good human! Here is your Chest of Loyalty.png Proof: Unbound containing 10 Stabilizing Matrices, the recipe and the Solution for Unbound. You can now go and craft Unbound with:

Speaking to Kelvei, the Legendary Observer gives you Theory of Ad Infinitum.png Theory of Ad Infinitum with which you can unlock the final collection:

    Legendary Backpack: Ad Infinitum

Challanges / collections related to a specific fractal level:

     Purchasable items:

     Back to being broke:

And there you have it \o/ To craft the legendary backpiece Ad Infinitum you will need

To get Gift of Fortune.png Gift of Fortune:

    Known issues:

    • When crafting the capacitors in the mystic forge make sure that you use the correct transmutation. If you change the skin of the capacitor, even though it states that it will function as the untransmuted item in the mystic forge, it might not allow you to complete the forging. Changing the skin back to the original will solve this problem.

A tip to get the ectoes and also in general to maximize your profit: keep green weapon drops and throw them in the Mystic Toilet. There is about a 20-25% chance of 4 greens giving you a rare which if salvaged can yield 0-3 ectoes making it well worth (though you are better off with selling the rare if its worth at least 1g). Also, salvaging rings can give you matrices, but only salvage the infused rings. Salvaging normal ascended rings will get you so few matrices that you would be better off buying the matrices themselves instead of buying the salvage kit. The normie rings can go straight to the merchant sliding down on a waterslide of tears or be saved for alt characters.

If you see something wrong or have anything to add just let me know and I will edit the post.
