While you can definitely get too much Toughness, you can't really get "too little dmg".

Yeah, try not to have any toughness at all to be honest, because the case is usually so that the tank is actually not full Toughness-geared like my Guardian tank is,  but rather just has a few toughness pieces --> you will pull aggro.

  2. As Nag already kindly offered, you can always talk to any of the other commanders and ask them to keep your anonymity (which they will most likely do anyway even if you don't ask them to). :) I agree with what Mini said, I think total anonymity in feedback brings more negative than positive sides.

  3. Cheers for the second group leader from both days, I can agree with everything Nag said. It was a nice learning experience of leading a raid group for me as well and reminder of things that you need to say out loud. Good job and effort for everyone and I'm positively sure that everyone walked out with learning a bit of something new! I'd be thrilled to see new group leaders emerge from the people that joined us this weekend. ^^

A bit of off-topic (sry if gets in the way of organization), but Nag (and other community people) did you think about bringing in reddit ppl (meaning advertising there)?

Just look at all those disappointed EU players: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/49glbi/raid_wing_1_giveaways_teaching_runs/

Yeah this would be nice indeed, but since the new raid wing is indeed coming today, I'll be at least fully focused on that today and Thursday, which really leaves me only those two spots on the weekend to spare to do these 'beginner raids'. Once we've cleared the new wing with my guild and gotten it under 'farm' (easily cleared each week), if I'm still around, I might be looking into doing something like this. :) But we need a _lot_ more people willing to lead and teach for this, since me and Nag can only spread ourselves to lead 2 groups in total.

  5. IGN: Susimusta

Experience level: at least 43 Legendary Insights (there might be one or two lurking somewhere in the inventories of my characters)

Classes:  Tank Guardian (very experienced in this on VG), Elementalist (Staff or FreshAir), Phalanx Warrior, < All in full ascended's --  and Zerk Guardian (haven't played that much, only chest piece missing from full Asc.)

Basically I also have a Revenant and Mesmer raid ready, but I haven't played on them at all, so would prefer not to.

I can lead a group, or help out on either of the two days.

It's always more fun with more people!

Also I disagree on this a bit. Obviously go and try it out, but never have more than 3 people inside the wurm, (rather not even more than 2). Because the more you have inside, the more likely you're going to have AoE spits landing on you and/or veteran wurms aggroing. Also if your egg-blockers aren't communicating with each other about who blocks what and when, you're likely to end up having eggs all over the place. :)

The 'Sweet spot' varies a bit depending on the wurm, on Cobalt and Crimson I've figured it's ~one step more inside from when your character is completely inside the wurm (from the front), and on Amber it's in the bush in the middle, somewhat the same spot. Invulnerabilities usually require you to stand exactly on the right spot, because the radius they affect is more or less just your character's hitbox, whereas "Swirling winds" for example (projectile block, Elementalists' focus skill 4) is so large, that it doesn't really matter where you stand inside the wurm.

Keep it going, I'll check on the guide once you've written some more. The green you use on "aoe" is very faint though so you should probably change it to some other color, even just plain normal and bold or something if you can't find a clearer color. :)

  7. Welcome to the Forums Jack! I have to say your introduction put a huge smile on my face. I had to check your profile just in case that you don't turn out to be my dad, lol. Anyway hope you indeed find your place in one of the OC guilds, we have plenty, though it seems you've already chosen one. ;) Enjoy the game to the fullest and don't think about the work and marriage.

  8. Welcome to the Forums Fay! :) Ooh, psychology (and people in general) is something that endlessly intrigues me, maybe we'll end up having a conversation about something at some point. Good to hear you've also found a home in one of the guilds, this game is nothing without a bunch of people to enjoy it with!

  9. Welcome to the Forums Carolinea (had to copy-paste it so that I don't typo). Finland mentioned, yey. Did you happen to be the one I've been talking to once in TS about the temperatures in Kajaani? Or one of the cities starting with K anyway, not sure. :D Anyway great to have you and nice to hear you've enjoyed your time so far!

  10. Welcome to the Forums! Hope you indeed enjoy your stay and find people you enjoy hanging out with in the Community which is coming increasingly active and growing day by day, which is AWESOME! :3 The picture looks really nice too (stumbled upon it earlier on the "show your character" thread as well). ^ __ ^ Great to have you.

  11. Nice. Keep drawing! Would love to see more of these. :) I've never really grasped the concept of drawing realistic human, so as far as anatomy goes, I can't say a thing. x) Noticed that your characters all have really similar kind of noses, probably inherited from WoW and such, since I remember Nelfs having those in general, probably intended, but if you want to try something new out, draw one with a huge wide nose. :D

  12. Welcome to the Forums Matsku! :) I'm pretty sure both me and Slay have warned people about us being Finn's, so you fit right in there. And thank you for clearing up that you're not in the avatar picture, spent way too much time yesterday wondering if I should ask that or not. (Also, In Flames <3)

  13. I was thinking if it would be possible for us to organize a "raid weekend" of sorts where we would give everyone at least a chance to get a go on Veil Guardian? :) Since frankly getting to full-clear the raid needs loads of practice and a pretty stable group with same people practicing together. If we get enough people willing to help, we could have 2-3 (or more if possible) experienced raid-players in each group, and the rest people with various level of experience. I would be interested in leading one of these. Can play tank guardian, ps warrior, staff/fresh air tempest. ^^

Experience: The Eternal, Full clears for weeks, insights... who even counts em?

  14. This is a very simple guide into the organization of the Silverwastes Vinewrath event chain. The event is very straight forward and easy to do even without the Teamspeak, so don't be afraid to try it out as a commander! :)

In the first part of the event, you need to defend 4 forts which are marked in the map below.

    silverwastestags.thumb.png.993b639f5c3d6

Amber Sandfall, Blue Oasis, Indigo Cave and Red Rock Bastion. If possible, have a commander on each of the locations and 8-10 people defending each fort.

Every once in a while a supply dolyak moves between the forts and from Camp Resolve to Red Rock Bastion. 1-3 people on each fort should aim to help them to safely get to their destination.

When the Pact Assault Preparations -bar fills up to 100%, you will enter the second phase of the event chain, called Breach. A hole will be torn on the ground on each of the forts and you need to jump down to the hole (make sure you jump and not just run down - you'll die) and fight a boss there. Each fort has a different boss with a little-bit different tactic:

Red Rock Bastion: COPPER HUSK - Vulnerable to conditions.

Indigo Cave: GOLD & SILVER TERAGRIFFS - Stun the bosses by killing the Poison bubbles when they’re nearly on them, don't kill them too early or they'll disappear before the terragriff reaches it. If they happen to run together, they'll shout screechingly, dealing a lot of damage around them - go ranged dps and wait them to start running again.

Amber Sandfall: IRON TROLL - Does AoE-attacks (a cone in front and rings around him) – Dodge!

Blue Oasis: PLATINUM THRESHER - Teleports every once in a while to the next location inside the Breach. Use reflects on it when it spins. Kill poison vents when they appear.

Once all 4 bosses are dead or the timer on the Breach ends, you'll enter the third event part, the Vinewrath event. Success on Breach will give you an extra Key of Greater Nightmares, you can use in the Hidden Depths labyrinth after killing Vinewrath.

On Vinewrath event you should split into the three lanes showed on the map below. You might want to ask a few people to do the event close to the Hidden Depths waypoint to open it, so that people that die can get back to the lanes more easily.

    silverwastelanes.thumb.png.e1546ba021604

The Vinewrath event itself consists of 3 bosses which the 3 lanes will be fighting one by one. If the lane fails to kill their boss, the next lane will be facing that boss instead of their own. So for example if bottom lane (yellow) fails to kill their boss, the middle lane (purple) will be killing the yellow boss, and if they manage to kill it, the top lane (blue) will be fighting the purple boss. So the goal is to kill the boss on your lane, and to be honest - they aren't super difficult.

While waiting to get to fight your boss, you'll be in Siege phase. Each lane has siege-carriers that they need to defend in order to blast through the vine walls in front of Vinewrath. Provide them with swiftness and stealth if possible. Restock their ammunition if needed (each lane has a bit different ammunition gather-up, Yellow/Bottom: Dig up; Purple/Middle: Take from the kites; Blue/Top: Dodge against trees to get coconuts). Build Arrow carts and Mortars and use them.

1st lane to go in is the Bottom lane, fighting the Bee-keeper Troll:

Take bee-targeted by standing close to one of the "doughnut" shaped AoEs. Bring the bees to the Honeycomb to build it up. When boss goes to the Vinewrath to do an blast attack, stand behind the Honeycomb - little trolls will try to knock you out of safety.

2nd lane to go in will be Middle lane, fighting the Mangler Thresher:

Use reflects whenever the boss spins (Feedbacks from mesmers, Walls of Reflection from guardians - for example are really powerful on this lane). Kill the Pustules when they spawn and run through the white circle they leave behind, this gives you a damage reduction and DPS buff. When the boss goes to Vinewrath, stand in the orange cone behind it, or you'll get stunned for a long time.

3rd (and last) lane to go in is the Top lane, fighting the Darkwing Teragriff:

Boss charges around between the Trigger Blossom flowers in the room. Kill the Trigger Blossoms to open them, and when the boss goes to the Vinewrath, stand on them to avoid the AoE damage.

Once all three bosses are dead, the path to Vinewrath will open and you can go collect your loot. :) Usually after this people go to either kill a few more champions that spawn or straight to the Labyrinth at Hidden Depths waypoint.

Hope you found this guide helpful! If there's any questions you were left wondering, don't hesitate to ask.
