  1. Welcome to the forums Trinzle! And nice to have you as a commander trainee too. :3 Also food technology sounds very intriguing, are you interested in setting up your own factory of some sort at some point or something? (..some.. thing.) ANYWAY, I digress. Welcome. :)

  2. Bravo! *claps her hands*

However if you have a lot of the materials required for infusing rings and you just don't seem to get a drop of the one with stats you need (they drop a _lot_ less since the change), you can just buy and infuse one, or infuse an existing one in my opinion. So I wouldn't call it necessarily

absolutely is a waste of resources

since you will lose a lot of AR for not having infused rings.

But otherwise very clear and well constructed guide on the basics of Agony resistance. :)

  3. I will not say welcome because everyone has already, so I'm instead going to saaaay... NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE ON THE FORUMS LARS! ^-^ And happy to hear you've enjoyed your stay with us so far, hope you will for the rest of the eternity too. :)

  4. Incoming character compilations! Starting off with Guardians (I have a sixth one on my another account but left her out) and Necromancers. Starting up from Guardians; Ruska The Veil (bottom left), Susimusta (top left), Stoopeh (middle), Lumeton (top right) and Cpt Susi (bottom left). Necromancers; Sysimusta (top, he has condi and berserker's gear sets) and Lady Poison Ivy (bottom). Lady Poison Ivy was my first character in GW2. :)

  5. Ah okay. ^^ I was just wondering because you said "I currently live in Germany" instead of "I'm German". :) Like if I would move to somewhere else than Finland (like England), I would probably say like "I live in England, but I'm a Finn.". Anyway that's cool. ^^

  6. Welcome to the forums indeed! And also happy to have so many new trainees. :3 I'm bit of an old grump when it comes to music, I should probably try something new every once in a while. That prog-rock-opera caught my eye, maybe you have some specific suggestions for me? ^^

  7. This is a specific Wurm egg-blocker build for Guardians, and the one I have been using on mine (tested and working). You can use the Dragonhunter specialization, but it's not necessary.

    Equipment

Stat-wise the equipment in this build doesn't really matter (you can go with the full-berserker's for example), however you want to bring a Sword (main-hand) / Shield (off-hand) combination. For offset you can use for example Greatsword to use in the burn phases and 2nd phase of the Wurm (but don't bring Hammer). The Veteran wurms around the Wurm sometimes like to aggro on characters with high Toughness, however this is not always the case.

    Runes / Sigils

Again, you can go with these if you want, but it's not super meaningful:

Armor: [Superior Rune of Scholar] x6

Weapon: [Superior Sigil of Force] & [Superior Sigil of Air]

    Traits

    eggblockingguardtraits.png.8dcb573aceea3

Virtues: Master of Consecrations (Consecrations last longer and have reduced recharge) , Supreme Justice , Indomitable Courage.

This is the only necessary trait-line because of the first trait and it's effect on the Wall of Reflection.

(The other trait-lines are by your choosing; I use Dragonhunter and Valor.)

    Utility Skills

    eggblockingguardskills.png.cb119496ad008

Healing Skill (6): Shelter Open Utility Skills (7,8,9): Wall of Reflection (a must-have), "Retreat!" (for refreshing aegis) , "Stand your ground!" (for group stability) Elite Skill: Renewed Focus (for blocking husk / aoe if necessary), or "Feel my Wrath!" (for quickness in burnphase)

For Open Utility Skills, with Wall of Reflection, you can also take (8,9): Hallowed Ground (Stability, long firefield, boon duration), Sanctuary (For additional skill to block projectiles, however I think nowadays this is a bit of an overkill), Bane Signed (for dps)

For second phase you should definitely try to switch your Wall of Reflection/Retreat into Hallowed Ground and Bane Signet, and your Elite skill to "Feel my Wrath!". In 2nd phase you're the king/queen of group stability!

    Practice

The core to learning to egg-block is to learn the animations of the Wurm. Your main egg-blocking skills are Wall of Reflection (utility) and Shield of Absorption (shield 5). Basically whenever you see the Wurm doing the spitting animation, you use one of those skills. If the wurm spat out Husks (they flew right through your shield or wall because Husks can only be blocked with Invulnerabilities), you just simply wait for the Wurm to do a second spitting animation and use the one you didn't use yet.

You're positioned inside the Wurm (so that your whole character model is just inside it, looking from the front of the wurm), so dodging it's spins (AoE or Wide spin) is very important, however as a Guardian, you can cheat around this a bit with your Aegis. Make sure you dodge them if your Aegis isn't on. The Wurm always opens up with a wide spin when the combat begins (Cobalt wurm and Crimson wurm always do a wide spin after a burn phase too, Amber can also spit eggs or husks right after burnphase). From there on, your Egg-blocking begins.

The spit on Eggs has a cooldown-timer of 40 seconds (The husk spit has 90 seconds), so what it means, is that your Wall of Reflection is always off cooldown when the Egg-spit happens, unless you've misused it on some other animation. I like to mouse-klick my Wall of Reflection, if I know that I'm positioned the right way inside the wurm, but you can also ground-target it so that it goes across your position "slicing the wurm" a bit closer to the front than the middle. Shield of Absorption (shield 5) creates a dome around you, just make sure you don't double-tap the skill or it interrupts the dome.

You do still have a few panic buttons if the Wurm starts to spit and you have both your Shield of Absorption and Wall of Reflection on cooldown: Zealot's Defense (sword 3 - 3 second projectile block), Shelter (Heal - 2 second block) or Renewed Focus (Elite - 3 second block) if you want to block the full spit you will probably need to use a combination of two of these. Usually you'll have a second egg-blocker with you though, that can help you out if this happens.

Also take into consideration that some of your skills (F1, F2, F3 as well if you're a Dragonhunter) have casting times.

For husk / aoe blocking every 90 seconds you can use Renewed Focus (elite), however this requires you to stand in a more specific spot that is a bit trickier to find and varies a bit depending on the Wurm (cobalt, crimson, amber). Don't block husks unless it's necessary because there's a husk-handling team waiting for them.

When you enter the burnphase, you can switch to Greatsword. Don't use Symbol of wrath (4) in the beginning of the burnphase, since it's a light field. On Amber wurm, when the burn phase is ending, switch immediately back to sword/shield, especially if your Wall of Reflection is on cooldown, since Amber can spit right after the burn. As said before, the other Wurmheads always do a Wide spin after the burnphase, so just remember to dodge if you don't have your Aegis up.

    Try it out!

Sadly there's no speedclear way to learning to egg-block, so just go and try it out yourself. A good way is to go to a low-populated TT map and try blocking as many eggs as you can, or you can join an experienced egg-blocker on an organized wurm. In either case, don't worry about not being perfect at it (even the experienced ones do mistakes sometimes, we're human). It's however a completely different aspect to the Triple Trouble event, and at least in my opinion a lot of fun!

Hope this Guide was of useful and clear enough for you. If you have any further questions, or you would like to try egg-blocking out, don't hesitate to contact Susimusta (on TS / Forums) or in-game Ruuti.2073.

  8. Welcome to the forums Atreyu and nice to have you as a trainee! As I also said somewhere before already, we don't all need people that talk all the time, we have a couple of those already. :D Anyway I hope you enjoy your time as a trainee and find it enjoyable! Also what an adorable kitty you have!! :3

In the beginning of combat, cast Symbol of Blades (Sword 2) > Switch to Hammer > Hammer auto-attack (1). Cast Spear of Justice (F1) and Traps (Procession of Blades & Test of Faith) always on cooldown after a full auto-attack chain. Remember to keep moving for your Seaweed salad buff.

If possible, drop your traps before the fight begins (they're off cooldown quicker = more dps).

Hope this was useful for you! And thanks to Akke.8502 for helping out! :) You can also contact him in-game for any questions about this spec.

  10. This is the very basic all-around PvE damage spec for Elementalists. This build requires the Tempest specialization. This build is valid also in the current Raid content.

    Equipment

Full Berserker's gear (Power/Precision/Ferocity), ascended stat combination name is [Zojja's.. ]

Berserker's accessories, rings, neck and backpiece

    Berserker's Staff

[For min-maxing critical chance instead use 2 Assassin's Accessories (Arah & Caudecus' manor collections or Raids)]

    Runes / Sigils

Armor: [Superior Rune of Scholar] x6

Weapon: [Superior Sigil of Force] & [Superior Sigil of Air]

    Traits

    Stafftempesttraits.png

1st line: Fire: Burning Precision , Pyromancer's Training , Persisting Flames

2nd line: Air: Ferocious Winds , Inscription , Bolt to the Heart

( For special occasions, like Keep Construct (2nd boss in Stronghold of the Faithful), use Tempest Defence as the middle trait )

3rd line: Tempest: Unstable Conduit , Harmonious Conduit , Elemental Bastion

( For stun-break for yourself and your party, use Gale song as the first trait )

    Utility Skills

    elementaliststaffskillsfire.png

Healing Skill (6): "Wash the Pain Away!"

Open Utility Skills (7,8,9): "Feel the Burn!", Glyph of Storms, Signet of Fire. Situationally you might want to use Conjure Frost Bow (For Crowd control, damage on big targets or Triple Trouble event), Conjure Lightning Hammer (Triple Trouble) or Lightning Flash (for mobility, for example Sabetha cannon running).

Elite Skill: Glyph of Elementals (for normal DPS rotation), "Rebound!" (for Raid survivability) or Conjure Fiery Greatsword (for mobility).

    Food & Consumables

[Plate of Truffle Steak] (+100 Power, +70 Precision) OR [Seaweed salad], but if you want to use Seaweed salad as food, you need to have [Superior Sigil of Accuracy] on your staff and no Assassin's accessories!

[Superior Sharpening Stone] (+Power equal of 6 % of your Toughness, +Power equal of 4 % of your Vitality) OR if you want to invest, [Toxic Sharpening Stone] (+100 Power, +10 % Condition duration) gives you a minor dps increase, by increasing your burning duration.

    Practice

Begin the combat in Air (F2), so that you have Air Overload ready. While running to your target, cast Glyph of Storms (Lightning Storm) and immediately after that, begin to Overload in Air (it has fairly short range, so make sure you're close enough). After that, switch to Fire (F1) and shout "Feel the Burn!" while casting your Glyph of Elementals. From here on you will be using those two Glyphs and "Feel the Burn!" on cooldown. Cast Lava Font (2) and Meteor Shower (5) on your target on cooldown, in between auto-attacking (1). Overloading (Fire) is always your first priority, so whenever it is off cooldown, use it, keeping in mind that it is melee-range. You can use Burning Retreat (4) for quick movement.

    Skill priority

Overloading (Fire) > Glyph of Elementals / Storm > Meteor Shower > Lava Font > Auto-attack

"Feel the Burn!" always on cooldown, it's a shout so it doesn't interrupt your casts.

Attributes (if you want to compare yours for example)

    elementaliststaffattributes.png

This is what your Attributes should look like with full Ascended Berserker's gear (not min-maxed with Assassins' pieces).

  11. This is the very basic all-around PvE damage spec for Revenants. In addition to dealing damage itself, this build build brings party wide might, fury and other boons, Assassin's Presence (Ferocity) and Facet of Nature (Boon duration). This build requires the Herald specialization. This build is valid also in the current Raid content.

    Equipment

Full Berserker's gear (Power/Precision/Ferocity), ascended stat combination name is [Zojja's.. ]

Berserker's accessories, rings, neck and backpiece

    Main set: Berserker's Sword (main-hand) / Berserker's Axe (off-hand)

For offset: - (main-hand same) / Berserker's Sword (for pulling mobs to you and for blocking), Berserker's Staff (for crowd control), Berserker's Hammer (for ranged and blast finishers)

    Runes / Sigils

Armor: [Superior Rune of the Strength] x6

Weapon(s): [Superior Sigil of Force] & [Superior Sigil of Air]

    Traits

    revenanttraits.png

1st line: Devastation: Vicious Lacerations , Assassin's Presence , Swift Termination

2nd line: Invocation: FREE PICK! (I use Cruel Repercussion) , Equilibrium , Roiling Mists

3rd line: Herald: Radiant Revival , Shared Empowerment , Elder's force

    Utility Skills

On Revenant the utility skills are bound to the Legendary Stances picked. In this build you should be using Legendary Dragon Stance and Legendary Dwarf Stance.

revenantskillsglint.png This is the Legendary Dragon Stance (Glint).

revenantskillsjallis.png This is the Legendary Dwarf stance (Jalis).

Situationally: When facing heavy condition pressure, you want to swap Jalis to Mallyx, and use Pain Absorption (Mallyx utility) to pull conditions to yourself and gain Resistance. Upkeep Embrace the Darkness (Mallyx Elite) the same way you would upkeep Vengeful Hammers (Jalis), when you don't need to use Pain absorption (Mallyx utility).

    Food & Consumables

[Seaweed Salad] (+10 % Damage while moving)

[Superior Sharpening Stone] (+Power equal of 6 % of your Toughness, +Power equal of 4 % of your Vitality)

    Practice

Playing a Revenant revolves a lot around the upkeep skills; you should ALWAYS keep Facet of Nature up.

Before combat, start the upkeep on Facet of Nature (F2), Facet of Strength (Glint utility) and Facet of Elements (Glint utility) - This is for pre-stacking might and swiftness. At the beginning of combat, start the upkeep on Facet of Darkness (Glint utility) -> Use Elemental Blast from Facet of Elements.

Your upkeep-rotation in combat is: When Glint is active, upkeep Facets of Nature, Darkness and Strength, use Elemental Blast (activating Facet of Elements) on cooldown. When your energy is running low, swap to Jalis (F1). When Jalis is active, upkeep Facet of Nature and Vengeful Hammers (Jalis utility). When running low on energy, swap back to Glint again and repeat.

Damage rotation in combat is: Use Precision strike (2), two times per Legend.

When Glint is active, you can use Unrelenting Assault (3) to stack Might if you're under 25 stacks of Might.

When Glint is active, you can use Frigid Blitz (4) to gap-close or to deal extra damage.

Otherwise make sure you keep auto-attacking with your sword (1) at all times.

Mastering the Revenant requires you to handle both aspects (upkeep rotation and damage rotation) at the same time!

Rite of the Great Dwarf (Jalis elite) is great for protecting your group, use energy on it rather than Vengeful Hammers (Jalis utility) if your group is taking heavy damage.

Your best CC (CrowdControl) combo: Use Temporal Rift (Axe 5) > Chaotic Release (Glint elite) > Swap to Staff > Surge of the Mists (Staff 5)

Attributes (if you want to compare yours for example)

     revenantattributes.png

This is what your Attributes should look like with      full Ascended Berserker's gear.
