The story begins...

So let's play a game that (probably) everyone knows or has played in some way, we create a story one sentence at a time.
Just a few guidelines:

• One sentence only, let's keep it at a maximum of 20 words each
• Do not post 2 times in a row
• Try not to abruptly end a story, it's not GoT, do not kill every character
• As far as I'm concerned it doesn't have to be 'PG 13' 

I'll start it off,

There once lived an old man in an old house

His life was peaceful, until one day there was a knock at the door

When he opened the door there was no one there

[Xaverri 24]

But a cold draft touched his neck, making the hairs there stand on end

[Abbikebabbi 1]

Quickly he slammed the door shut, but when he sat down on the sofa he noticed something in the room was off

He could feel an inexplicable presence in the room...

He closed his eyes briefly, and when he reopened them, his entire room was upside-down

He could see himself, sitting on the sofa. Was he dead? Was this really the end?

Or was this all just a cruel dream after years of experimentation?

He tried to explain it all to himself while he brewed another potion.

For some reason, his water boiler made noises, even though it had declared it's dying breath ages ago as it lit his kitchen.

He put his hand on it and softly murmured "Don't give up now, this new potion will bring us money!"
