Have we selected a server to play together on? Does someone want to lead a guild for current OpenCommunity members and build it up? Is there a guild already planned?

We're on Alustin (mostly in the Serendia channel) - right now still very much in the bumbling about phase :3

Unless something changes, we'll be on Alustin :3

  2. To start, I was going to talk about Disciples but we seem to have people here who know about it ^^ So instead I'm going to talk about another gem from my childhood - Lords of Magic!

I think it was a relatively well-known game for its time, but the bugs at release probably buried it a little bit. Developed by Impressions Games (Caesar, Pharaoh) and published by Sierra Entertainment (released in 1997), the gameplay resembles Age of Wonders, or other turn-based strategies with RPG elements, such as the darker Disciples or the more well-known Heroes of Might and Magic.

The world of Lords of Magic is based in a high-fantasy setting, inspired by elements of Tolkien, D&D, as well as classic European folklore & legends, such as the Arthurian legend or the 90s reinterpretations of Greek mythology.

You start as one of 8 factions based on elemental alignment - Life, Death, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Order, and Chaos, and choose your Lord type (Mage, Warrior, Thief). In the world of Urak you go around claiming different resources & clearing out dwellings to level up your capitol & surrounding structures, while your goal is to defeat the Lord of Death (or in case you are playing as Death, to defeat the Lord of Life). There is an amount of diplomacy present in the game in case you meet the other factions, however they are largely cold at the beginning so patience and trade are the way to friendship.

Unlike in other similar games, the combat is not turn based, but instead works in real-time (with a pause button so you can execute commands).

The game eventually featured an expansion which added a few more campaign storylines based on popular fables and stories, such as Beowulf or the Arthurian Legend.

Overall, the game was pretty cool, and still has a small but loyal fanbase today - including fans who made patches to remove certain bugs and improve compatibility.

The game is available on GoG and Steam, and runs on my two screen Windows 7 setup without any compatibility settings. I would recommend it to anyone who loves 90s fantasy games and is a bit of a nostalgia nut. :3

  3. A lot of us have that game we played as a kid, or possibly are even playing now, that sometimes feels like it might not even be real due to the fact no one else has ever mentioned it. Either poorly published, only published in an obscure language / region, or just not well known, there's tons of really good games out there that you want others to know about - possibly even play! Highlight those games desperately in need of it here!

  5. Since guild missions no longer require consumables, this means we can do them whenever we want, however we want, as many times as we want! In order to provide some basic structure, here's how we approach missions in DV!

    Scheduled missions:

    • We have a couple of scheduled time slots on which missions are done. Since missions reset weekly, you only need to attend one of these times in order to get the rewards.
    • Missions are conducted by a Coordinator, Officer, or Leader. We move around in a squad (or two), and follow the instructions of whoever is coordinating the missions.
    • On scheduled missions, we do Medium & Hard PvE missions. Easy missions can be done afterwards by anyone who wants to stick around.
    • We perform a roll call, marking people with being active for the month.
    • We do these in DV-1 only.

    Unscheduled missions:

    • Missions can also be triggered whenever, by poking any Coordinator, Officer or Leader, and done on unscheduled times
    • This is mostly useful for Easy PvE missions, as well as PvP / WvW opportunities, which can usually be done with less than 5 people
    • For PvP missions, simply ask a Coordinator to drag you & your team into one of the temporary PvP teams
    • These can be done in DV-1 and DV-2.

If you have any questions regarding guild missions, ask away!

  6. Questions regarding DV? Question no longer, here are the answers!

Q: So what's up with this whole DV-1/DV-2 thing?

A: Since the member cap in Guild Wars is 500, DV is made up of two guilds to be able to accommodate everyone. DV-1 & DV-2 are equal in all respects, except for the following:

    • DV-1 does Guild Missions & Guild Hall activities. It is expected members join guild missions or participate in guild hall activities.

    And that's the only difference!

Q: What are the representation policies in DV?

A: Both of the DV guilds are completely 0% rep required guilds. Representation is completely optional & never monitored!

Q: What are the join requirements for DV?

A: Joining DV is simple - just ask! We accept anyone, from new players on their day 1 to veteran players who've played since day 1! ^^

Q: How active do I need to be for DV-1? Is it ok if I can't join guild missions every week?

A: There is no strict ruling, but logging in / doing missions at least once a month is recommended. We also have the Away rank for people who know they are going to be away for a longer period of time, but are planning to return. All you need to do is ask & you can have it ^^

Q: What's the whole Active / Shiny Member thing in DV-1?

A: In DV-1, throughout the month, members progress in rank from Member -> Active Member -> Shiny Member, by participating in activities. At the end of the month, the ranks are recorded and reset. In the future, this allows us to potentially award really active members, or identify inactive members who can move to DV-2, if we ever need to do so.

Q: Who do I need to contact for anything DV-related?

A: Check out the List of Contacts!

Q: I'm interested in Guild Missions, how does that work?

A: Check out the Guild Missions post for info on that ^^!

If you have any questions, feel free to post a reply to this thread ^^ We'll do our best to answer you =)

  7. Below is a full list of all DV Leaders, Officers, and Coordinators with in-game contact information, in case you ever need to get in touch with us. Unless otherwise specified, the person is present in all DV subdivisions.

    Leaders

    Coordinators

    • Atreyu | @Atreyu | Atreyu.4920
    • Hopsu | @Hopsu | Hopsu.7392
    • Luna | @Lunar | Lunar Monarch.4829
    • Nan | @Nan | ser tachibana.3892

Q: Who should I contact, depending on my issue?

    A: Here's a quick explanation:

    • Coordinators handle guild missions, PvP teams, member invites, and can provide you with information about the guild.
    • Officers deal with all of the above, and are also the recommended go-to people in case of any disputes, arguments, complaints, etc.
    • Leaders handle any situation, in-game, out of game, guild or community-related. Going to us is never the wrong choice! ^^

    Q: I want to become a coordinator!

A: Great! We could always use more hands on deck! Check out this thread for more info!

Q: I want to get in touch with a Leader / Officer, but only Coordinators are online.

A: The entire DV team is also in touch with one another through various means outside of game. The Coordinators can poke the Officers / Leaders privately to come and help you =)

a few of [NUTS] guild are in alpha testing for the WvW overhaul, a new factions based system is being introduced to help combat people from servers with a low population that want to WvW the factions system from what i have been told is an ''alliance'' of 3 guilds (there is a number cap) teaming and taking on other alliances i dont know the full ins and outs as they are under an NDA just seen a few basics in /g chat that got leaked! so if there are any community guilds that like to do a spot of WvW it would be good to start talking ''alliances''

Yep, I've heard of this before as well. Sounds really promising!

as a person that started as a f2p player i could not agree more.

And to stop taking stuff from the gem store... or at least remove it from the wardrobe as well.

i came across so many skins that i wanted and then found out that they are not available anymore

The gem store has a rotation of items which swap every few months. They'll never be completely unavailable.

Also, the chat restrictions are there to protect us against bot spams. Such is fate ^^

If I could remove one thing I would probably clean up the personality type interactions. They're just there as an empty husk, a reminder of what we could have had, but don't because <whatever> :(

I know, it's soooo difficult to find something decent-looking ._.

If it's a human you can try the cultural stuff as well ^^
