  1. What is Pink Day in LA? Pink Day in Lion's Arch is an event aimed at raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. It started in Guild Wars 1 in 2007 as a small gathering of people who dyed their armours with a combination of red and silver. Through the following years, PDILA has become more and more popular and ArenaNet even added the Pink Dye to GW1 specifically for the event, and has since then also moved into GW! How do I join? The event will be hosted on both NA and EU by several different organizers, and connected through GW-EN Radio! The event will take place in the evening of October 20st, starting at 7 PM CEST (full schedule of events will be posted soon). There will be different events that players can participate and win prizes in. One of the EU hosts will be OpenCommunity, so you can join us by connecting to our Teamspeak3 at ts.theopencommunity.org. Alternatively, if you don't wish to use Teamspeak, you can join us in-game by keeping an eye out on the LFG on the day or contacting our commanders, or tune in to GW-EN radio on the day for information on how to join! More information coming soon!

Heya ^^ Welcome to the community ?
  3. The Three-Headed Great Jungle Wurm terrorizes the jungle! But we're ready to terrorize it back! The Vigil Crusaders are ready and waiting for the armies of Tyrian heroes to march into the Wurm's domain and slay the giant creature. The Triple Trouble event is a fast-paced, high-intensity event where three teams must coordinate their efforts to slay the three heads of the Wurm at the same time. Due to the large number of split-second decisions, TeamSpeak is required. No experience with the event is required, all tactics & mechanics are explained beforehand.
  4. The Crystal Desert is plagued by many a foe, and heroes from all over Tyria are here to save the day! The desert calls! This event will include as many bounties as we can get through in the span of 2 hours! Requirements: Path of Fire Expansion Recommended: Canyon Jumping Raptor Mount mastery and High Vault Springer Mount mastery, Skimmer mount
  5. Hey everyone! The updates just keep rolling in ? I'm super happy to finally be able to announce the Package Tracker, a brand new addition to the website that gives everyone a little bit more insight about what exactly's going on with their physical item packages and whether they've been sent or not! You can access it from the Community tab in the navigation menu at the top of any page on the website ^^ In the past, we've had to use private messages or forms on the website to exchange information, and if people wanted an update on their package they'd need to just poke me here on the website. Now, all that information is in one place! With the package tracker you can see whether your package has been packed, shipped, or whether it needs some kind of input from you - such as selecting a choice of shiny in cases where you can select a prize, or entering an address. You can also edit your mailing address (or delete it). This is part of the improvements we've been wanting to make that give users more direct control over their information - rather than using our old system of asking for it via forms, which can't be accessed after being submitted. Overall, this should make the whole thing more transparent and smoother! This also means we can finally send out the batch of prizes from the last two fundraisers, which have been put on hold since we wanted to finish the package tracker before sending them out ^^ Huzzah! All the good things! P.S.: Despite the name, while it would be cool, the tracker doesn't track the whereabouts of your package while it's en route to you ?. Unfortunately, that's not within our abilities, but in the past, most packages have arrived within 14 days to European locations, and within 30 days everywhere else ?.
  6. Ever wanted to learn more about the different teams, what they do, what the responsibilities of those teams are, as well as other ways to get involved and help the community? Well, this is the event for you! Hey everyone! What's this? Commander School? Aren't we dealing with enough school already? Grrr! A lot of folks have recently expressed the desire to join the ranks of commanders, and since it's back to school season, we figured we'd name this event appropriately. Don't be turned off by the event's name, though, it's going to be a lot more informative than most school lessons I've been to! ? So what is this event? Commander School is a get-together on Teamspeak for anyone interested in being a commander, as well as for those interested in helping out the community in other ways. In addition to the Event Team, Raid Team, and the TT Team, we have a whole bunch of other aspects of the community that don't often get mentioned, that we want to give our members the chance to get involved with! The event will feature two parts - a brief overview of the different teams & roles in the community, and a Q&A section where we answer any questions people may have about specific roles and tasks in the community. Whether you want to know what's expected of someone on the TT Team, why the Event Team is't doing X or Y event, or if you can help out with something we don't seem to have a role for, everyone's invited to join in the conversation! After the event, if you're interested in joining any of these teams or helping out with any of the roles, you can proceed straight into the sign-up interview, where we can get you all set up in the team of your choice! So whether you're interested in being a commander, or just interested to hear more about how things work here at OC, you're invited to join us on (in?) Commander School!
  7. Join us on another adventure into new, unexplored lands! What threats and treasures lie in the Jahai Bluffs? With the recent Living World update came another brand new map - Jahai Bluffs! As is tradition, we'll be getting to know it in a one-time unique event - the Expedition to Jahai Bluffs! The Expedition to Jahai Bluffs is a one-time event, a kind of exploratory foray into the brand new map and its content. It's a shared adventure framed as an exploratory mission, and the event is suitable for players who have already explored the map on their own, as well as those who have never visited it before! We'll start at the first waypoint in the region, then proceed through the area, seeing what needs to be done on the way! We'll be doing any events we come across, hunting bounties, visiting locations of note, helping players get to difficult-to-reach places, pointing out interesting tidbits and possibly even getting some achievements! Event Requirements: Path of Fire Basic Mounts (Raptor, Springer and Skimmer) Jahai Bluffs map reached (first waypoint unlocked) Getting There: Complete the Story mission A Shattered Nation from Living World Season 4, episode 4: A Star to Guide Us. Using Jahai Bluffs Portal Scroll or Spearmarshal's Plea to Sun's Refuge after unlocking it on one character. Using Teleport to Friend on a party member in the zone, if the Living World episode has been unlocked. Note that this is not intended to be a 100% exploration run or a farm grind, but rather a relaxed foray into the map. It's a great way to get an impression of a map, and make some fun memories while doing it! As part of the run, we will show players around some important locations in the area, complete events, and point out some fun or interesting areas and achievements. We're also inviting any mesmers with full access to all mounts to help us help players get to difficult locations! NOTE: Story spoilers will be kept to a minimum, but some elements of the story may be spoiled by the NPCs on the map or the environment itself!
  8. Hey everyone! Our website has received a bit of a new outfit! The functionality of everything remains the same, but things will look slightly different from now on! This release will enable us to start launching other features we've been working on for a while, which we've already been developing in this theme! If you have any questions, or find any issues with the current theme, either visual glitches or broken functionality that we've missed, please let us know! You can reply to this thread here, or write to us via the feedback page!

    Treasure Hunt

The second ever Treasure Hunt on our server will take place on Sunday, the 30th of September, at 15:00 CEST! Event Description A unique treasure will be revealed - with a picture clue and a vague direction from spawn to go in. As time passes, more and more clues will be added, until the treasure is found! The treasure is usually something unique, made with a command line - like an unbreakable tool or weapon with custom lore text - along with some valuable in-game items like emeralds, diamonds, redstone, etc. Players can start from anywhere on the map, but the clue given about the direction of the treasure will be based on spawn as the origin point, so it's a good idea to come to the spawn hub for the event! The treasure & clues will be posted on the forums, so you can join in on teamspeak or without it. As we've only done one test run beforehand, we'll be taking some live feedback about the event on TS as the event is progressing, so feel free to join us for that as well! Depending on how the 1st Treasure Hunt goes, we'll be implementing some suggestions from the first run!

  13. The quaggans of Tyria have decided that they have stood on the sidelines of the battle for Tyria for far too long, and wish to join the fight against the enemies of Tyria! Join our quaggan-manders in Bloodtide Coast for at 21:20 CEST for an unforgettable battle against the Three-Headed Jungle Wurm! We will gather in Bloodtide Coast on Thursday with a pocket full of Pink Quaggan Tonics and the faces of people not quite certain what they're getting into, gather up our armies of quaggans and defeat the Three-Headed Jungle Wurm! Or at least have a lot of fun trying ^^ We're inviting everyone to join us - whether you've never done Triple Trouble in your life, or whether you've done it so much you're sick of it! This will be a one of a kind disaster and we're just hoping to have a lot of fun doing it! We'll start gathering 10 minutes earlier than usual, just to provide extra time for explanations as well as quaggan tonic sharing. If you're experienced at TT and already have a permanent Pink Quaggan Tonic (or a handful of single-use ones), you can join us on the regular time at 21:30 CEST! As a bonus, anyone who connects to Teamspeak before 21:30 CEST with a quaggan name will have to be greeted in true quaggan fashion by our coommanders! Don your pink quaggan tonic and join the fray, all the while supporting Pink Day in LA! And don't worry if you forget your quaggan tonic in your other armor - our coommanders will be equipped with all the Pink Quaggan Tonics you could ever wish for! Quaggans, to arms! Summary Triple Trouble but everyone's a Pink Quaggan Thursday, September 20th, 21:20 CEST Teamspeak: ts.gw2oc.org Experience required: None Recommended gear: ~15 Pink Quaggan Tonics, or a permanent one, but quaggan tonics will also be provided.

  15. The quaggan army is plotting its attack on the three-headed Evolved Jungle Wurm, and are planning to arm themselves to the teeth! Join us directly after the Saturday mid-day TT to gather the most popular consumables used on Triple Trouble, and potentially some other fun consumables on the way ? Note: These consumables can be used on regular runs, but as quaggans can also use environmental weapons, they'll be especially useful on the upcoming Quaggans vs. Triple Trouble run!
  16. Hey everyone! Boy, there sure is a lot happening in the next few weeks - let's break down what's coming up and the things we can look forward to in September & October ? The majority of our events will be happening in Guild Wars 2, but there might be some fun stuff happening in Minecraft as well! Let's get right to it and see all the funky stuff that will be happening! Living World Update | September 18 That's right, A Star to Guide Us, Episode 4 of Living World Season 4 is coming, and brand new content brings a whole lot of possibilities! There are so many new things, but far be it from us to spoil the news - check out the official trailer and the official announcement on the GW2 website! As always, we will be taking a break from regular events for a bit when the update hits. This time, there will be a two-day break from regularly scheduled events, so that everyone can focus on that new story update and savor the new content! However, don't wait too long - we've got a special event coming up already on the 20th! Read below for more! Pink Day Season Every October we dress up in pink to support one of the longest traditions in Guild Wars, which has now spread far beyond the world of Tyria - Pink Day in LA - the annual fundraiser to benefit cancer research! Just like every year, there'll be a ton of events, prizes, giveaways, and lots of fun to be had all around the community! The Pink Day in LA event will be happening on October 20th, and OpenCommunity will once again be one of the official hosts for the event! More details about the event will be posted as the event draws nearer! This year, we've got a whole bunch of special events coming up from all of our teams, so no matter what flavor of play is your favorite, there'll be something to do in the weeks leading up to Pink Day in LA! Quaggans vs. Triple Trouble | September 20 Quaggans have stood on the sidelines of the battle for way too long, and wish to join the fight against the enemies of Tyria! Join our quaggan-manders on the normally regular Triple Trouble at 21:30 CEST for an unforgettable battle against the Three-Headed Jungle Wurm! Don your pink quaggan tonic and join the fray, all the while supporting Pink Day in LA! And don't worry if you forget your quaggan tonic in your other armor - our commanders will be equipped with all the Pink Quaggan Tonics you could ever wish for! Quaggans, to arms! 24 Hours of TT | September 22 & 23 Once the quaggans have shown the Evolved Jungle Wurm who's boss, our TT Team wants to make sure its three heads have been beaten back into the ground for good! In support of Pink Day in LA, our team will be undertaking the ultimate TT marathon challenge - 24 hours of TT! Starting on the regularly scheduled Triple Trouble at 21:30 CEST on Saturday the 22nd, our commanders will be going for all additional 5 Triple Trouble events happening between then and the regular TT on Sunday the 23rd. That's seven wurms, twenty one wurm heads in total! But don't worry, it's not all husks and egg spits, there'll be plenty of time in between events when our commanders will be organising special events such as Hide & Seek, Quaggan Hunt, and all sorts of other shenanigans! Come join us on this charity marathon and let's raise the roof - and some prizes - for Pink Day in LA! Expedition to Jahai Bluffs | September 29 As is tradition whenever a new map is added to Guild Wars 2, we'll be organising an expedition event to the newly added map! What does this mean? Well, an expedition is an event where we go around the map, doing events, seeing the sights, and taking in all the new content in a relaxed fashion. It's not a 100% exploration run, but we will be visiting all the waypoints, showing some cool locations & achievements, doing some group events, seeing if there are any activities that we can do as a regular event later on, and just having a good time! Join us on Saturday the 29th, at 18:00 CEST as we delve into the Jahai Bluffs! October Activities There's certainly a lot happening in September, but don't worry, we've not used all our best material on one month! There'll be plenty of activities coming up in October as well! Our raid team doesn't want to be left out, so they're also preparing something special for Pink Day in LA! There'll also be some fun activities on our Minecraft server, so keep your pixellated eyes peeled for that! And what fate has befallen the Quaggans who so bravely fought against the Evolved Jungle Wurm? I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of them. Stay tuned for more events, as we'll be rolling out further announcements as we draw closer to Pink Day in LA! Website Updates While we're keeping ourselves busy in the game, we're also always tinkering away on the website, adding exciting new features and hopefully not breaking anything too significant! ? ? In the next few weeks, we'll be rolling out some pretty major updates, including a brand new look & feel for the website, and Discord integration that will allow members to opt into specific event notifications, as well as join the server without having to wait for manual validation! We're also working on an update for our Raid Schedule functionality, a brand new home page, and a way for supporters to track whether their coveted packages of pins, mugs, and other assorted trinkets have been sent, all directly through the website! ~ In addition to everything listed above, we're also working on a truckload of other community improvements across all our platforms and areas of play, as well as other events and fun activities for our members! We are really looking forward to everything coming up in the next few weeks, and I hope you are as well!

    Dry Top

After their sabotage-induced crash, the Zephyrites are stuck in Dry Top and looking for aid. We must help them recover and hold their ground against the perils of the desert. Dry Top features a map-wide meta event with tons of smaller events which must all be completed in order to get the highest reward tier, meaning the merchants on the map will offer better items at lower prices. The event is a map-wide meta-event, for which everyone on the map must pitch in in order to ensure maximum success. All of the event mechanics will be explained by the commander during the event, so you do not need any prior knowledge before joining. You don’t need to be in the map prior to the event - the commander will explain how we get everyone onto the same map. Event Requirements: A level 80 character Dry Top map reached (first-time players joining on time will also have the time to travel to Dry Top without having discovered it before) Guide:
